Autoimmune Diseases and Postoperative Complications

I have been seeing Dr. Liu for ten months. I first came to her because I had complications from an Achilles debridement and repair. The surgeon could not understand why I was not healing. I consulted another surgeon, who said he could help me but that it would take years. I became very depressed because I had always been active, but even with a stabilization boot, I could not walk normally or participate in physical recreation, and I was still in constant pain. After a few weeks, the pain and swelling began to subside. After a few more weeks, I was out of the boot and walking normally without pain.

I also have several autoimmune diseases, two of which began when I was a child. I was in pain all the time. I tried medicine and, eventually, chiropractic treatment. Nothing helped. I have been receiving acupuncture and have gradually improved; I can now move without pain most of the time. I feel better than I have in years, without the side effects of drugs or an operation. I highly recommend Dr. Liu.

Endometriosis

I have suffered from endometriosis for the past 30 years and have undergone several medical and surgical treatments to relieve my severe cramps. Although traditional medical treatments typically provided some relief for a time, the pain eventually returned.

Acupuncture has been the only thing that has helped me. Dr. Liu reduced my pain level by 90% within three months. She is extremely knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate. I highly recommend that anyone with endometriosis see Dr. Liu before undergoing surgery and/or medical treatment. Acupuncture is a natural, safe, and lasting alternative. Last but not least, Dr. Liu's office environment is extremely professional, clean, and calming. Her office makes scheduling appointments, obtaining receipts, and getting questions answered easy.

Parkinson's Disease

When I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in August 2006, my life took a sharp turn. Those of you who have it understand how embarrassing it is to be unable to walk the way you used to and to have your hand tremble constantly. The Mayo Clinic suggested tai chi exercises, so I called the Northern Shaolin Academy in Audubon for an appointment. My instructor was helpful and recommended acupuncturist Jane Liu. After my first treatment, my walking improved by 80%, and my hand tremor improved by 50%! In my seventy years, I have learned that the practice of medicine is an art based on science and that some doctors paint better pictures than others. Jane R. Liu is one of those skillful artists in the science of acupuncture. If you are suffering from Parkinson's disease, try the path I have taken; you have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Tennis Elbow

I am a competitive athlete and personal trainer, with a primary focus on show jumping and indoor and outdoor cycling. I have accumulated many injuries over years of competitive sports. When I first came to Dr. Liu, I had chronic epicondylitis (tennis elbow) in my left arm. I tried therapy, painkillers, injections—you name it—and I was still in constant pain. I could not even hang up my clothes! Within two weeks, Dr. Liu dramatically reduced my pain through acupuncture therapy. Within six weeks, the pain was completely gone and the injury had healed. In the meantime, I asked Dr. Liu for help with other old injuries, such as bursitis, an old shin splint, and an ACL/meniscus tear in my knee. Within a short time, she addressed all of these problems, and I am now back to running long distances for the first time in many years, pain-free! I have sent many clients to Dr. Liu, and they have followed up to tell me how much she helped them. It is a great feeling to be associated with such an outstanding healthcare practitioner.

Sciatica

After being in a car accident, I developed back and hip pain (sciatica). At the time, I was pregnant. The pain came and went at first, until one day I could not sit for more than 20 minutes or get into bed by myself. I had to wait for someone to help me out of a chair after a group meeting. My obstetrician suggested that I see a physical therapist, which I did three times a week for two weeks. It did not help and even worsened my condition. I almost crashed into a truck while driving because my leg hurt so much that I could not press the brake pedal. My family doctor suggested a steroid injection, but no one wanted to risk performing the procedure on a pregnant woman. My family doctor then suggested that I rest at home and apply for short-term disability.

When I saw Dr. Liu for the first time, she told me we could try 12 treatments and go from there. At first, I told her where my pain was, but after a few visits, I could no longer tell exactly where the pain had been. The pain was completely gone after eight visits.

I am really grateful for Dr. Liu’s professional skills and sincere help.

Osteoarthritis

I have been seeing Dr. Liu for osteoarthritis in my right knee after many years of teaching aerobics. I am impressed with Dr. Liu's knowledge and expertise in performing acupuncture, and I believe my knee has improved as a result of my ongoing treatments. I like that I am using a "natural" way to promote healing rather than depending on medications that only mask symptoms without addressing the underlying problem. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Dr. Liu to anyone who needs help with a chronic physical ailment that may not be responding to traditional medical approaches. Dr. Liu is truly the best!

Lower Back Pain & Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

I have worked in the dental profession for more than thirty years, which has resulted in chronic neck, back, and wrist pain. Bending over patients, leaning to one side, and making repetitive motions with my hands have all contributed to this soreness. I had been treated by a chiropractor for many years and had also completed two courses of physical therapy, which temporarily alleviated the pain. As soon as I returned to work, however, no amount of ibuprofen, ice, or heat would relieve my throbbing back or the electric shocks and numbness in my hands.

In January 2003, I awoke one morning and could put no weight on my right leg. The pain in my lower-right back was stabbing; I could not find a comfortable position for sleeping or sitting. My physician ordered an MRI and an EMG. After being diagnosed with herniated discs in my back and carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists, I was offered steroid injections for my back and surgery for the carpal tunnel syndrome. Neither option appealed to me, and being out of work while my wrists recuperated was not feasible. I knew many hygienists who had undergone carpal tunnel surgery and were unable to practice again.

I had met Jane in my office, and she offered to perform acupuncture. She treated my back first because it was the most painful area. After one treatment, my back had improved so much that I was standing straighter and sleeping better. After ten treatments, I was pain-free and have remained so for the past year. My wrists were treated next, and even after ten-hour days, I no longer have wrist pain. Jane has been a career and lifesaver for me. Her knowledge, skill, and compassionate nature are exceptional.

Knee Pain

I have suffered from constant knee pain for about 35 years. I tried everything from heat and ice to reparative surgery, but nothing brought lasting relief. I started riding a bicycle several years ago but had to cut my rides short because of the knee pain. I finally decided to try acupuncture, and the results have been significant. I was then able to participate in the 75-mile City to Shore MS Bike Ride. I am very happy with the results. Thank you, Dr. Liu.

Fibromyalgia

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in January 2005 after repeated visits to my doctor. I was so tired and achy all the time that I had to leave work and go on disability because the pain was so severe. I went to several specialists, including rheumatologists, and all said the same thing: there was no cure. I was placed on several different pain medications, each of which caused its own problems.

My husband suggested that I see Dr. Jane Liu. A few of his students at the Northern Shaolin Academy were seeing her at the time. At that point, walking up the stairs was very painful, and my breathing was getting worse (another symptom). Anyone who has this condition knows that fibromyalgia can cause many different symptoms.

When I first went to see Dr. Liu, I was in such poor condition that I could hardly drive to her office. I had a one-hour consultation with her, and she asked me many questions. I told her about my diagnosis and asked whether there was anything she could do for me. She smiled and said, “Yes!” I lay on the table, and she began placing very fine needles in different parts of my body. After 15 minutes, she twisted them. I instantly felt energy moving through my body. I was still unsure what would happen when she finished, but the treatment relaxed me so much that I fell asleep. I thought to myself, “Even if nothing else happens, at least I will get some sleep,” which is something people with fibromyalgia do not get much of. To my surprise, I felt significant relief after my first treatment. I began seeing her twice a week for the first three months, then reduced my visits to once a week and eventually once a month. Now I see her only when needed, which is not very often. Dr. Liu has helped me so much that I returned to work full-time and resumed everything I used to do before this terrible illness.

Although fibromyalgia may never be completely out of my system, I now have it under control instead of the other way around, after only a few months of working with Dr. Liu. I call her just to see how she is doing. Believe me, acupuncture can work for you; give it a chance.

Arthritis

I have been a patient of Dr. Jane Liu for the treatment of arthritis pain. Dr. Liu has been very professional and careful to explain everything she is doing.

The pain relief in my case has been remarkable. My activities of daily living have improved and increased. The feelings of depression related to pain and limited mobility have lifted.

Dr. Liu follows a regular hand-washing procedure between patients. Her office is clean and neat and provides a calm environment. I plan to continue my patient relationship with Dr. Liu when she returns from China.

Hip Pain

I suffered from right hip pain for 11 months, which greatly limited my participation in martial arts and many sports that I love. I had spent hundreds of dollars on over-the-counter products with little or no relief. With a ski trip and yoga retreat planned, and unable to see an orthopedic physician on short notice, I turned to Dr. Liu for assistance. She was able to see me right away, and I experienced enough relief after one treatment to participate fully in the planned activities. With each subsequent treatment, the pain diminished. After about five treatments, I was pain-free. I look forward to continuing my active lifestyle. Thank you, Dr. Liu!

Neck Pain

When Dr. Liu inserted the needles into the acupuncture points, my pain was relieved as if by magic.

One morning, when I got out of bed, I felt extreme pain in the back of my neck. It felt as though the muscle had twisted. I could not move my head at all. I called my family doctor and followed his recommendation to take pain medication, but it did not work.

In desperation, after an introduction from a colleague, I went to see Dr. Liu. I had never experienced acupuncture or any other alternative medical treatment before.

I became very nervous when I saw Dr. Liu open a box of needles. Dr. Liu thoroughly explained the traditional Chinese treatment to me. Then she inserted one tiny needle into my skin. It was so quick that I did not even notice. I felt numb and sore but had no pain. Dr. Liu inserted a total of eight needles into different areas, including my neck, shoulder, leg, and hand. She then twisted the needles one by one. I felt more numbness and soreness. Amazingly, the pain in my neck was gone. After almost 30 minutes, Dr. Liu removed all the needles. I noticed that there was no blood. I stood up and could hardly believe that I could move my head without pain. The next day, I could not wait to see Dr. Liu for another treatment. I had completely recovered after the second session.

I do not know much about traditional Chinese treatment, but one thing I know for sure is that it works!

If you have any questions, you can contact me at steven_fan@hotmail.com. I would be happy to recommend Dr. Liu.

Morning Sickness and Breech Position

I first went to Dr. Liu for treatment of nausea and morning sickness. During my first pregnancy, I became very sick. I was dehydrated, lost at least 10 pounds, and was unable to do anything other than lie down and rest. I was finally forced to take a prescription drug, which did help to some extent but had its own negative effects, and I was worried about unknown effects on the baby. Still, this was better than being hospitalized, which would have been the next step.

When I became pregnant again, I was headed down the same road. Fortunately, my yoga instructor recommended Dr. Liu to me. After my first visit, I felt my energy returning and was actually able to eat a meal! In all, I had either three or four treatments and felt great!

At 39 weeks pregnant, my baby turned to a breech position. Again, I called Dr. Liu and went in for moxibustion to try and turn him naturally. My husband continued the moxibustion treatment at home twice more, and that really got the baby moving! During our ultrasound before an external version was performed, we learned that he was in a head-down position!

Dr. Liu is great at what she does and has a deep knowledge of how the body works. She is the first person I would call when the need arises!
